She moved here at beginning of school and she sat in front of me in gym class. I believe I was one of the first people to make friends with her. We became friends and she became real good friends with my best friend at the time. We went to her birthday party and hung out a little in school. Her smile and laugh I can still remember to this day. She moved back to Alabama before we finished the 7th grade. I remember her coming between classes hugging us goodbye. My friend Tommy went and visited her sometimes. They kept in touch. Until he told me what happened a few years later. I've always wanted to try and connect with her friends/family to tell them I still remember her. She had the same birthday as me. March 26th... So sad. She had a glow about her that most people don't. She was special and she treated everyone with dignity and respect. It didn't matter who you were she recognized you and it made you feel good about yourself. Great article.
