I'm in Trouble
I’m in trouble.
That is what this lady told me today when she looked up and realized I was taking a picture of her predicament.
Not sure who she was in trouble with but my guess would be her husband. You will notice this is not an old Ford Escort she has driven over the edge.
I was eating lunch on the run with a co-worker today off I-65 in northern Alabama and looked out the window and immediately recognized the scene as blog potential.
I vividly remember the day when I was about 13 years old when I decided I would take my mom’s brand new Oldsmobile Vista Cruisa Station Wagon for a spin. I drove it around our driveway a couple of times and decided I would get cute. I found out it doesn’t turn out very cute when you drive an automobile with your eyes closed. I was shocked when I realized I had hit something very hard. I was really shocked when I opened my eyes and realized I had run into the side of our house.
Funny thing. I said the same words this lady said today when I got out of that car.
I’m in trouble.
And I was
But my brother laughed at what I had done.
My wife called me one Sunday afternoon several years ago when I was driving from Savannah to Reynolds. Her crying voice scared me so much that I had to pull over to the side of the interstate to brace myself at the news I was about to receive. I was so relieved when I finally realized that she had backed our brand new car (sticker still on window) into our nephew’s car in our driveway. I thought she had at least run over a couple of our kids or at least a dog.
I vividly remember a couple of my wife’s close relatives laughing at her wrecking her brand new car.
Today it appeared to me that the lady driving her Lexus had her granddaughter with her and was meeting her daughter to give her back. Or maybe she was picking up her granddaughter for a visit and she was so excited that she forgot to stop at the curb.
Not sure how exactly how it happened but I am sure that the grown daughter was laughing at her mom’s dilemma. I mean really laughing.
There is a lesson here for all us.
We all do stupid things. Stuff like this just happens.
And there will always be someone who thinks it’s really funny. And if we are lucky that person will have a camera with them to capture the moment.
And if we are really lucky that person will also happen to be a person who writes blogs.
