Kindled

Kindle; to start a fire, cause a flame, blaze etc. to begin burning. to excite: stir up or set going; animate; inflame; rouse.

That definition is right out of Webster’s Dictionary.

Kindle is also a wireless reading device sold at amazon.com. I got one for Christmas and it sure has been put to good use. So far I have downloaded four books, the end of the year edition of Time magazine and an edition of the Atlanta Journal. I have finished two of the books and read pretty much all of the magazine and the newspaper.

I can download most any book from wherever I have cellular service in less than a minute. I don’t have to go to the bookstore and I don’t have to haul books with me in my briefcase. And I don’t even have to plug it into a computer. This little device can handle all I can read for a long time.

I can already see myself sitting in an airport waiting on a plane and spending 50 cents for a current edition of the Washington Post without having to get out of my chair.

I have always enjoyed reading but I have no doubt I will read more in 2008 than I read in 2007. The Kindle has already kindled my desire to read more. And no doubt my horizons will be expanded.

Blogging and kindling were not even in my vocabulary two years ago. What will they come up with next?

It’s cold outside tonight and we have a cozy fire going in the den. What a perfect night to curl up with a Kindle.
