My friend, Hippo (Mike Crawley), who I wrote about a few days ago passed away this morning at the Medical Center of Central Georgia in Macon, where he has been employed for the past 26 years.
To say the least I have a heavy heart.
He wanted to go back there to die. And he got his wish - with literally hundreds of his friends and co-workers having the amazing opportunity to stop by to say goodbye the past few days.
Although sometimes he couldn't speak, he acknowledged each person.
There have been alot of tears at the Medical Center this week and a lot of "I love you's."
I am on the road and it will be late tonight when I get home. So I probably won't have time to write what's in my heart today.
But I will as soon as possible.
I have noticed that I have had a sizable increase in people reading this blog the last few days and it is not difficult to know that many of them are coming from friends and co-workers of Hippo to read the article I wrote about him a few days ago.
I had written an article earlier about his twin brother, Will, that mentions Hippo's intervention in his brother's life when he needed him.
Even in the middle of the toughest situations in life there is still hope.
God bless the memory of Mike Crawley.

My heart is heavy also. We think that we will be here forever. I'm sure that people don't understand that growing up in Reynolds, everyone is family. We have lost a member of our family.
Hippo (Mike) is still missed and remembered.
