Please Write Her Name Down

Sometimes there are articles I read in the paper that I have to read again and maybe even again. The article about Pope John Paul’s beatification case that is in the spotlight was definitely such an article. Being Protestant and in the dark about such things and in the spirit of expanding my horizons, I’m going out on a limb here. Hopefully there is someone out there who can help.

My understanding is for a person to be considered a Saint in the Catholic Church there must be at least two documented miracle healings that result from praying to that person. The person doing the healing is recognized as being “Beatified” if the church recognizes the healing. After the second case, the church recognizes the person to be a “Saint.”

Sister Marie in France has recently been healed from Parkinson’s Disease after praying to the late Pope John Paul. If the church recognizes it we have miracle number one and we have a beatified late Pope. From what I’m reading it looks like this miracle is an odds -on favorite to be recognized. Sister Marie was suffering from Parkinson’s to the point that she was about to give up her job at a maternity ward. Mother Superior would have nothing of it. She told the nun to write down John Paul’s name on a piece of paper. She did what Mother Superior said but said it was practically illegible. But the nun community all prayed together that night to the late pontiff. Afterwards, an inner voice told Sister Marie to write the name again and now her writing was very readable. She went to bed and woke up at 4:30AM and jumped out of bed and her symptoms were gone. Sister Marie said to a fellow nun, “Look my hand is no longer shaking. John Paul II has healed me.” She has not taken medication since that day.

I definitely vote that the late Pope should be “Beatified” for that.

I'm not sure about him being beatified but I wouldn’t mind being beautified myself. When I was looking in the mirror last night, I couldn’t help but notice that I could stand a little beauty. I also saw a few other people this past week that a little beautifying would not hurt. In some cases the need was great. Maybe you are thinking you could stand some beautification.

The way I see it you can do it two ways: You can go to a plastic surgeon and a cosmetic dentist and have a few lifts, tacks, tucks and re-works or you can find some folks to write your name on a piece of paper and spend a few hours praying to you about whatever problems they have.

If their problem is solved you can be beautified. And I have to tell you there are a lot of us out here that sure could use it.

In fact I think Sister Marie needs a few of us to write her name on a piece of paper. She could stand a little herself.
