The World of Blog

Well, I have finally decided to join the world of blog. I guess my purpose is two-fold. One is to allow those organizations who may be considering to have me at their event to be privy to where I've been recently. I have had a lot of speaking engagements over the last several years so I promise I will not go back to mention those but will just start now. The other reason is for friends and family to keep up with me. Maybe I will even offer some perspective from behind the podium as time goes on.. who knows?

On Friday evening, June 16, I found myself at Greenwood Country Club in Greenwood SC speaking to the Festival of Flowers Medical Symposium. I have had the opportunity to speak to several medical groups over the years and it is always much fun. I really had a blast watching the group of doctors laughing and enjoying.

On Saturday morning, June 24, I spoke to the Young Bankers Leadership Conference of the Alabama Community Bankers at the Sandestin Beach and Golf Resort in Destin FL. The Alabama Bankers always do it first class and this was no exception. My wife and I stayed over and took a few much needed vacation days. John and his wife Tami (John is our middle son) joined us in Destin. John and Tami are expecting our first grandchild. The due date is February 5, 2007. I promise you will hear more about that as time goes on!

Today, I spent a few hours in the Shadow Sound Studio working on new recording that will be released under the Senate Records label. I'm really excited about this project. The CD will include some pretty funny stories I never have time to tell during most speaking engagements. You will also hear about lessons from the life of Eulan Brown. For those of you who have read my book, I introduced Eulan to you there. Hopefully the CD will be released in late August. Be on the look-out. It will be available to be purchased online or for download and will also be available at local stores.
