Friday night. August 11. 9PM Eastern. USA Network. Put it on your calendar.
My niece, Lindy Newton, will make her debut in the hit comedy/drama television series, Monk. She will be in two scenes playing Monk's wife Trudy in a flashback when they met in college. She says she always prepares herself that scenes can get cut so she won't know for sure until it airs.
If you have not been watching Monk, go ahead and begin. It’s on every Friday night. Monk is an obsessive compulsive detective and he will tickle your funny bone with all his quirks.
Since she was a little girl Lindy always loved the camera. I have a home video that I filmed when she was a little girl doing a home show in her grandmother’s den.
I think it is time for that video tape to go in a safe. No doubt its value is increasing every day.
We all laughed at her silliness at the time. I have a feeling it won’t be long before she will be laughing - all the way to the bank.
Lindy grew up in Waycross, Georgia and was involved in every play and production she could possibly find. And she worked at it. No telling how many hours she put in learning lines and songs... and stage poise.
And she just didn’t do okay. She was great – landing lead role after lead role.
I remember driving my mom and dad down to Waycross on several different occasions so they could see their granddaughter in different productions.
My goodness they were proud grandparents.
Lindy went on to study theater in New York City (among other places) and got her degree in Theater from the College of Charleston. She then packed her bags and headed to Los Angeles, where she now lives.
Her experience and talent has landed her more that a few roles. She has been seen on the big screen in the movies Notebook and Radio. She had major roles in a couple of Hallmark movies, Thicker Than Water and Though None Go With Me.
Now she will be appearing on an episode of Monk.
Where is all this going? Who knows?
I do know this:
She dreamed it. She believed it. She worked very hard to achieve it.
And she is living her dream.
I have a feeling that people all throughout the United States will soon be introduced to our special Lindy Newton.
You wait. You’ll see.

Dear Lindy's aunt:
Lindy's website, lindynewton.com, doesn't seem to exist. I'm writing to wish her a happy 26th birthday, but I don't know how to contact her.
I just saw her in the Hallmark movie "Thicker Than Water", and I thought she was great.
My name is Mark, and you can send an e-mail to mngold1@comcast.net.
