Reserved Only For Grandparents
Taylor celebrated her birthday today. She was officially one day old today. I promise I won’t make you read about every birthday because tomorrow she will be two and the next day three… and on and on.
But I promised when I joined the blogging community several months ago that I would write about whatever happens to be on my mind.
But I promise I will try to do better.
My blackberry has been vibrating all day long. I don’t think I ever received as many emails in one day as I did today. Some caused me to smile. Many caused my eyes to fill to the brim. I was reminded of the value of friendships. And I am so grateful for each one.
I have only answered a few so far but I will answer each one.
One email I received from an old friend really got my attention. She said that she never realized how much her grandparents loved her until she had a grandchild of her own. I never thought of that before but it is so true. Her comment made me wish I could go back and spend more time with my grandparents.
If you are reading this and your grandparents are still alive, go find them and spend time with them. My goodness they love you a lot.
Tonight all three of our boys were together in the hospital room. I captured that special moment as you can see here. To think these three rambunctious boys have grown up is incredible to this dad. I have a life time of memories of these guys doing all the stuff little boys do.
Today two of my sons did what men do. They were there to hug and congratulate their brother and their sister in law and to hold and love on their little niece.
It was quite a sight to behold for their dad and mom.
Little Taylor is spending her last night tonight at the hospital. Tomorrow the new Goddard family is heading home.
They are about to begin an incredible journey that has played out over and over since the beginning of time.
In fact it is more than a journey.
It’s a wild ride.
The kind of ride where you have to hold on with both hands.
There will be sharp curves to maneuver and a few hills to struggle up and others to fly down. And a lot of beautiful scenery along the way.
I only wish I knew 27 years ago (when we began our wild ride) what I know now.
But that kind of knowledge is earned.
And reserved only for Grandparents.
