You Know What They Say About Men With Big Feet

(Pine Level, AL) I have never been one who enjoys shopping. My wife and I learned early on for the sake of our marriage that it is much better if she goes to the mall without me. I never understood the practice of spending all day looking at stuff and trying on clothes knowing you are NOT going to buy whatever you are looking at or trying on.

But in spite of all that, I still find myself at the mall with my wife from time to time. I try to let her go do her thing and I go hang out at a bookstore or sit on a bench and watch people go by.

I learned the hard way. We were shopping in an Atlanta mall many Christmases ago and I was in a store that sells lady’s clothing and Kathy was trying on clothes. She had gone in one of those little dressing rooms (or so I thought) where someone tall like me can look over the door inside the dressing room if someone like me chooses to do so.

She had been in the dressing room a very long time (or so I thought) and I finally got up and walked over to the dressing room and looked over the door to be sure she was still alive. The lady in the dressing room (who was only in her undergarments) screamed. Really loud.

It was not my wife.

I got out of that store as quickly as I could. I was fully expecting a mall policeman to handcuff me and take me in for being a pervert.

It’s just better for me to stay away from malls.

But there is one exception. Sikes and Kohn’s Country Mall in Pine Level, AL is my kind of mall.

I was driving up Hwy 231 from Ozark to Montgomery late this afternoon and pulled in my favorite shopping place.

Besides all the other stuff they sell, they have more name brand shoes in that store than any store I have ever visited. But more importantly they have shoes that fit my big ole feet. I don’t have that luxury in most places that sell shoes. I have to settle for whatever a store has in my size which is usually none. Or I can order shoes online but usually when I do they don’t fit.

But in this store I can actually look at all the styles and they pretty much have shoes to fit me in any style. And the prices are great.

There are a few advantages to traveling to all the places I go. One of them is finding places in the middle of nowhere like Sikes and Kohn’s.

By the way, you know what they say about men with big feet.

They have to buy big shoes.
