See Jack Ellis

This week I was driving through Chattanooga and saw a billboard advertising Lookout Mountain. I have never been to Lookout Mountain but I sure do remember their advertising on the rooftops of barns of seemingly every road I happened to be traveling when I was growing up. Their claim to fame is that you can see 7 states from the top of that mountain. See Rock City became a national brand. And the branding was done on purpose and with purpose.

Now Macon, GA has a brand just as well known. But this branding scheme does not bring people to Macon. In fact this brand has the potential to cause good people and businesses to stay away. You can’t see 7 states from the top of Coleman Hill in Macon but 7 states can sure see Macon. In fact all 50 states can see pretty well these days. See Jack Ellis may as well be painted on rooftops on all the roads leading to middle Georgia. And it was not done on purpose – at least not on purpose by the good people of Macon.

The latest is this C. Jack Ellis has sent a declaration of “solidarity” to President Hugo Chavez of Venezuela. This is the same Hugo Chavez who is allowing terrorist organizations to operate within Venezuelan borders. This is the same Chavez who the Center of Security Policy called a “self absorbed unstable strongman who has found common cause with terrorists and regimes that support them.” This is the same Chavez who stood at the podium of the United Nations and called the President of the United States of America “the devil.” (Photo from wmccnews.com).

This is the same United States that the heroes of our country have sacrificed life and limb to defend. This is the same United States that our uniformed sons and daughters are on the other side of the world in harms way defending even today.

And this is the same C. Jack Ellis who as mayor took the city of Macon from having a $28M surplus to having to borrow money to meet the payroll.

Neal Boortz called Ellis a “blithering idiot.” I happen to agree with Boortz.

There is no doubt Macon is being seen clearly these days from all fifty states. I just hope they See Jack Ellis as he really is.

I AM EMBARRASSED TO TELL ANYONE I LIVE IN MACON. WE WILL BE SO HAPPY TO HAVE THIS IDIOT OUT OF OFFICE. MAYBE HE WILL GO TO AFRICA OR VENEZUELA AND STAY.

As I posted on the WMAZ website, I predict that the new mayor will call for an audit in the spring of next year, where it will be discovered that 5 or so million dollars will be missing from the Macon coffers. About the same time, everyone will notice that Hakim Mansour or C. Jack will also be missing, and both will turn up in Ghana. Just sit back and watch.

Thank you very much for posting this, I really wonder how people like Ellis can --with a good conscience-- make these kinds of statements without knowing really what is going on down in Venezuela. Solidarity with an autocrat? No, that's not one of the reasons I came to the US... I came to live in a free country away from Latin American populists.

Amen to that.. my son is about to leave for his second stress duty to Iraq... he is leaving a beautiful family behind to serve this beautiful Country. I cannot tell you how hurt and offended our Middle Georgia area is for having this community representative speak as a representative for our patriotic Middle Georgia families and consituentcy of his office. It is a shame that the citizens of Macon have to allow this man's ego to be broadcast for all the world .. and Neal Boortz comments are so very true. How ignorant this man is, and how sad for the people he is supposed to serve.
