Grab Your Tissues

10-year-old Hannah Eschrig got the surprise of her life Thursday when her father Master Sergeant Joe Myers walked into her classroom at Randolph Elementary School in San Antonio, TX unannounced. The two hadn't seen each other in a year.

“It was the culmination of 350 days of waiting to be with my daughter and family,” MSgt. Myers says.

“I missed her entire 4th grade year. So my goal was to be back for her last day, so I could say I was there. It was awesome.”

Hannah Eschrig says, “I don't really remember what happened because I was so happy!”

MSgt. Myers plans to take Hannah to a Jonas Bros. concert this summer.

Grab your tissues.

I remember the day my daddy came home, unannounced and unexpected, after being gone for a year on a remote assignment. It was about 22years ago and I remember it like it happened yesterday....and thinking of that day still makes me cry. I am pretty sure my reaction was exactly like this girl's was! Great video, thanks for sharing.

Loved this--military families make so many sacrifices.

Bruce,
I too remember a day that we came home from church and there was my daddy crossing the yard. He was home for an unexpected visit from Germany and I remember too like it was yesterday how excited and emotional I was and that was almost 35 years ago. What a special tribute to the sacrifices made on both sides! Thanks for sharing.

Emotional!!!!!

I am from the Middle East and can understand what it must have meant for that little girl to see her father after so long.

God Bless your families and May you all be United in the love of Christ
