Definitely a Family Affair

Fall y'all has definitely arrived.

My wife and I visited the Georgia National Fair in Perry Georgia last night which, as compared to the fairs I have attended, is the mother of all fairs.

We had a very large time.

There is more going on there than you can shake a stick at. Entertainment every way you look.

We walked a lot and ate a lot and watched people a lot and visited with people a lot. We even saw some people we haven’t seen in a while.

One of the couples we were with had a very special time. They were recently married (our age) but she had never been to a fair in her life. Her new husband won a few bears and soft fuzzy animals for her. She was as wide-eyed as an 8 year old child as she looked up at the very high and scary rides in the amusement park.

One of the highlights we saw was a stage show by a group called Vocal Trash out of Dallas Texas. They play trash cans, water bottles and any instrument you can think of. But they also are great singers and their harmony is as good as anyone. Their music is from every era and every type, from the roaring 20’s tunes to Patsy Cline to Born to be Wild. The group has a very funny and entertaining show.

We enjoyed the show and music so much that I got online this morning and bought Beach Boy concert tickets. Their show will be next Friday night. The folks putting on this Fair have brought in several big name groups.

I also did something I have always wanted to do but never wanted to pay to do. I got in one of those aqua massage machines for about 15 minutes. I could have stayed in that thing for another hour. The lady running it was an old friend and didn't charge me.

Kathy bought something for Taylor (future granddaughter) so we are going back this afternoon to pick it up and check out some more stuff we didn’t get a chance to see.

The Fair comes once a year. And if it came more than that it would be way too much.

But one time a year it’s about as good as entertainment as you will find.

If you are within a hundred miles of Perry, GA, grab your kids and/or your mom a dad and head to the Georgia National Fair this week. You will be glad you did.

It's definitely a family af-fair.
