Absolutely Awesome

They called it a girl’s weekend away. I think they all have earned the right to call it whatever they want. I call it absolutely awesome.

It has to be awesome when three sisters, their mom and a kissin’ cousin take off together to the beach the first weekend in November. I won’t tell you how old the girls are in the photo but I will tell you I am fairly certain they are all over 40. I will also tell you the mom told me the four “youngins” acted like a “bunch of teenagers” the whole weekend.

Is that awesome or what?

Lynn, Kathy and Mia are the famous Underwood sisters I wrote about in my book. I married one of them. I think you will agree they look great in the over 40 category. (You should have seen them when they were teenagers). Irene is their mother who now resides in an assisted living facility who I am certain thought beach trips were just some vague memory of the past. Willorene, who still looks like a million dollars, is their cousin (I have written about her before too) who lived with the Underwood family for a period of time many moons ago. Lynn and Kathy worked for Willorene years ago at one of the most famous hair salons east of the Mississippi. Mia is Willorene’s god child.

I think you can safely say this is a close knit group.

Maybe they will make another trip together next November. Maybe these five will never have the opportunity for another trip together. Those things we just don’t know. But we do know they spent a wonderful weekend together in 2008.

And we also know that memories created on special weekends like this can tend to cause smiles when nobody really feels like smiling in what could be difficult days to come.

Absolutely awesome.

Who could ask for a better time than a weekend with the girls. It was such a special time together. I will cherish it always.

What a weekend! We did some gut hurting, cross your leg laughing. Most all women over 40 know what I'm talking about. We talked about old times and would always end the conversation with how much we love each other.
That's worth more than all the money in the world.
