Thankful

I’ll always remember this day.

January 9th took on a new meaning for me 15 years ago. The man who impacted my life more than any other died getting ready for bed on that Sunday night in 1994.

It was my lot to find him the next morning.

I get a lump in my throat when I think about it but at this point in my life the lump is not a lump of sadness. It’s a lump of thankfulness.

Thankful I had him for over 39 years.

Thankful he invested his life in me.

Thankful he taught me about the important things of life.

Thankful he taught me to see the lighter side of life.

Thankful he married my Mama.

And thankful he made a move on her one cold January night in 1954.

If he hadn’t – I wouldn’t have been born nine months later.

And you wouldn’t be reading this blog.

I'm thankful he made a move on your mama on that cold January night in 1954 too because I wouldn't be married to the most wonderful man I know.
Your Dad impacted my life too. He was so gentle when dealing with people who were hurting. He was the best at what he did. When my Daddy died he not only took care of my Daddy but he took care of the whole family. Mama was young and wasn't prepared for planning her husband's funeral and surely didn't know about all the paper work. Your Daddy took care of everything. He loved me like a daughter. I could go to him about anything and did many times. Remember the golf clubs I bought you one time for your birthday. He not only helped me pick them out ( I didn't know an iron from a wood) but he helped me pay for them. I loved him dearly.
So today I am thankful and I take a moment to pay tribute to Ed Goddard

Mr Ed was one of the best men I've ever known. He is right up there with my daddy and my Uncle Cecil. He touched my lives and is still missed by all who knew him.

Bruce, when I move to reynolds your dad made you feel good about your self. Their is only a hand-full of pepole that can do that and that was your Dad. I have 4 pictures that was in your Mom & DAD'S house they are in my dineing room I think about them both. Oh I love the way he would look in your eyes and tell if you were going to have a girl or a boy. I have 3 and he got them right.

Bruce--there are many that will read this today that have only wished for what you had with your Daddy. How fortunate and blessed you are my friend. Sue

I too am thankful...
Thankful for all the blessings, moving to Reynolds nearly 24 years ago, thankful to have known so many wonderful people like your mom and dad and many others that have gone home now. I am thankful for you and the way you encourage me through your blog and sometimes give me the laugh I really needed or the reminder, like today, to be thankful. I needed that today. God Bless you!
