God Always Looks After His Chillun

Things got kinda emotional at our house last night. Actually a little more than kinda.

Our friend Michael will be leaving for Iraq this week. He’s leaving behind a beautiful wife.

He is also leaving behind a group of close knit friends who meet together every Sunday night.

Michael and Dale met while they were students at Union University in Jackson TN. After they graduated Michael attended Officer’s Training School in Montgomery. They were married two weeks later and spent the next year and a half stationed at Tyndall AFB in Panama City, FL. They were transferred to Robins AFB in April of this year.

They did not know a soul when they moved here just a few months ago. Both are a long way from home. Michael is from Madisonville, KY and Dale is from Santa Barbara California.

Michael and Dale began searching for a church home when they first arrived in Warner Robins. They attended several churches and eventually landed at our church.

They have been involved there ever since. It just so happened that home groups were getting started about the time they first attended and they joined one quickly. It didn’t take long for this couple to begin to build relationships in this home setting with other couples.

It was not an accident that they got plugged in this group. Michael expressed last night that he could not imagine leaving his Dale by herself and not knowing if she would be taken care of while he was gone.

God always looks after his chillun.

There is no doubt that there will be some long nights for this young wife in the next few months. But there is also no doubt that she has a group of people who will walk with her every step of the day.

Kathy and I made sure last night that Dale knows that she has a second set of parents right here in Warner Robins.

For the next 100 days her husband will be gone and in harms way as he defends this great country in which we live. He will have enough to worry about. We don’t want him to worry one second about his sweet wife.

We presented Dale with a key to our house last night.

But I have a feeling we will have to share her with about seven other couples.
