Maybe Christmas Will Be Better

What began as a wonderful Thanksgiving family gathering turned ugly before we were done. I don’t think the ugliness is over yet.

The ugliness came in the form of an awful virus and it swept through our house with a vengeance. At last count it has brought five rather healthy adults to their knees as well as a 22 month old baby. And I wouldn’t be surprised if the phone rings again with more news.

Two of my very beautiful daughters in law have spent evenings in the emergency room getting IV fluids and other medicine. Our little grandbaby Taylor experienced the ravages of a virus for the first time. My wife spent last evening on her knees in the small tile floor room and is in bed as I type this. My wife’s cousin who spent the weekend with us started up about 3AM. And I just got word that one of my sons is now enjoying the same disease.

My youngest son, Luke, may have been the smart one. At the first sign of sickness Thursday night he took off with Drew like someone shot out of a cannon. I haven’t seen him since. He calls but is staying away.

For some reason, I’m still standing. While most other God fearing folks were in their houses of worship on this Sunday morning, I have been sanitizing bathrooms with Lysol and washing bed sheets, bedspreads and vomit stained towels. I feel fine but I’ve been right in the middle of this and it will be a miracle if I don’t come down with it.

But I do believe in miracles and I have seen them happen from time to time.

If you don’t believe me, just take a look at the picture posted here of my daughters in law (actually one is a soon to be daughter in law) and our little Taylor.

I’ve also posted a couple of other pictures of what was a great holiday weekend until it started to get ugly. What begins well doesn’t always end well.

Just ask the Georgia Bulldog nation.

Oh well. Maybe Christmas will be better.

you probably didn't get it because you gave it to them!

I am so sorry for this dreadful holiday of "Ralphing" and illness your sweet family endured. My hope one day you all will be able to look back at it and have a laugh in lieu of a cry. I had roto-virus which dang nearly killed me however it turned out a blessing as it was only through that I learned I had serious gluten allergy which for years doctors thought was something else. Something good may come out of it all this for your family, who knows. Anyway, love the blog, I worked in a funeral home for years, so I know a little more about "all that" than most folks. Take care.

From a TV position it looked like the DAWGS caught the Goddard Crud
on Sat. All I can say is GO JACKETS, we needed that after 7 years.
